These 7 Common Health Problems Attack the Heart

– The heart is one of the vital organs in the body. However, this organ can experience many disorders that need to be watched out for. Call it coronary heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, and many more. In this discussion, we will explain further about what are the common health problems that attack the heart.

Various Heart Diseases

There are quite a number of types of diseases that can attack the heart. Here are some of the most common:

1. Coronary Heart Disease

This disease occurs when the arteries that carry blood to the heart, harden, and become narrowed. This can be triggered by many things, such as accumulation of cholesterol and blood clots in the arteries (atherosclerosis). Due to the narrowing of the arteries, the flow of blood and oxygen to the heart is reduced, so that the organs cannot function normally.

Common symptoms that arise from coronary heart disease are chest pain, shortness of breath, cold sweat, palpitations, and nausea. Chest pain due to coronary heart disease also usually radiates to the neck, jaw, throat, back, and arms. If left untreated, this condition can lead to complications in the form of a heart attack.

2. Heart Attack

A heart attack is an emergency that occurs when the blood supply to the heart is completely blocked. As a result, the heart muscle cells are damaged. Heart attacks usually occur due to coronary heart disease.

Symptoms can include chest pain, shortness of breath, and cold sweats. If not treated immediately, a heart attack can cause permanent damage to the heart, even sudden cardiac arrest.

3. Cardiomyopathy

Cardiomyopathy is a disorder of the heart muscle, which causes abnormalities in the shape and strength of the heart muscle. As a result, the heart cannot properly pump blood around the body. Cardiomyopathy can be caused by genetic factors, or other heart diseases.

Initially, cardiomyopathy often causes no noticeable symptoms. New symptoms will appear when it has entered a severe stage, or there are other accompanying diseases. Symptoms can include leg swelling, chest pain, fatigue, and coughing.

4.Arhythmia

Arrhythmias are disorders of the heart rhythm, which can be too fast, too slow, or irregular. This condition occurs when the electrical stimulation that regulates the heartbeat is disturbed, so the heart cannot work properly.

5. Congenital Heart Disease

Constructed from birth, congenital heart disease can occur in the walls, valves, blood vessels near the heart, or a combination of these. Symptoms that appear vary, depending on the type and severity. Some of the symptoms are short and rapid breaths, chest pain, blue skin, weight loss, and delayed growth and development.

6. Heart failure

Heart failure is a condition when the heart is too weak to pump blood around the body. If it lasts long term, heart failure can lead to serious complications, such as cardiac arrest, pulmonary edema, liver failure and kidney failure.

7.Endocarditis

This heart disease is an infection of the connective tissue that lines the walls and valves of the heart. Infection generally occurs when germs from other parts of the body enter the heart wall via the bloodstream. Common symptoms of endocarditis that often appear are fever and chills, shortness of breath, chest pain when inhaling, and excessive sweating at night.
